Dr. Rachel Weinstein, DVM
Dr. Rachel Weinstein joined the Grand Lake Veterinary Hospital team in 2026 after building a diverse background in both general practice and emergency medicine. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine after discovering her passion for veterinary medicine while working as a veterinary assistant in the North Bay. Before pursuing veterinary school, Dr. Weinstein graduated from Colgate University in 2013 and explored a variety of careers—including working as a horse wrangler, ski instructor, and emergency room scribe—all of which helped shape her compassionate, hardworking approach to patient care.
Following veterinary school, Dr. Weinstein completed a one-year rotating internship at Encina Veterinary Medical Center in Walnut Creek before practicing as an emergency veterinarian in Connecticut. She is passionate about helping pets live healthier, happier lives by listening closely to their families, guiding them through treatment options, and ensuring every patient feels as safe and comfortable as possible.
Dr. Weinstein was drawn to Grand Lake Veterinary Hospital because of its collaborative team, commitment to kindness, and dedication to helping both pets and people thrive. She believes pets are true members of the family and cherishes the joy, loyalty, and unconditional love they bring to our lives.
Outside the hospital, Dr. Weinstein enjoys hiking, tackling the New York Times crossword puzzle, and discovering new coffee shops. She also loves spending time with her family’s Labrador, Violet, two cats, Scarlet and Ru, and her horse, Remi.
