Pet Travel Exams

Pet Travel Exams

Are you going to be traveling internationally or across state lines and plan to take your pet with you? It’s important to be aware of exactly what will be required for your animal companion to make the trip. It’s also a good idea to make sure your pet is physically healthy enough for travel. This is where our pet travel exams come in!

The veterinarians at the Grand Lake Veterinary Hospital are USDA-accredited and can assist you in getting your pet ready for your trip, including assessing whether they’re healthy enough for travel—especially the rigors of an airline flight.

Planning a trip with your pet can be complex, but we’re here to simplify it for you as much as possible. Our services include assisting you with acquiring the necessary interstate or international health certificates, pet travel exams, and other steps needed once you’ve determined your specific requirements.

Research is Essential

Every state and country has its own regulations. Some are more complex and rigorous than others, and some may take several months of planning and preparation to satisfy them. It’s essential to do your research on the specific requirements for your destination.

You can do this by visiting the Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) page from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). While the certificate must be prepared by a USDA-accredited veterinarian, the requirements for entry are established by each individual country.

In addition to researching the requirements of your destination, it’s important to look into the regulations of your airline. The requirements can vary depending on the airline you’re traveling on. It’s essential to contact your carrier to determine their stipulations.

It may seem like a lot to take care of, but we’re here to help! If you have any questions about our pet travel exams, give us a call today.
