Veterinary Assistant
Will Herbert joined the Grand Lake Veterinary Hospital team in 2026 as a Veterinary Assistant, bringing with him a lifelong appreciation for animals and the outdoors. His passion for animal care grew while hiking and backpacking, where he developed a fascination with wildlife. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he worked on a ranch in Colorado caring for horses, cows, and chickens—a hands-on experience that inspired him to pursue a career dedicated to helping animals.
Since beginning his work with animals in 2020, Will has discovered not only the joy of caring for them but also the importance of understanding animal behavior and communication. While horses have always been a favorite, he admits he’ll always have a special place in his heart for cows. His goal with every client interaction is to ensure pet owners feel heard, informed, and confident that their beloved companion is receiving the highest quality care.
Will was excited to join Grand Lake Veterinary Hospital because of its collaborative, doctor-owned environment and the opportunity to be part of a dedicated, compassionate team. He enjoys working in a fast-paced setting where he can continue learning and growing while helping pets and the people who love them.
Outside of the hospital, Will enjoys riding his bike, playing guitar, and spending time around Lake Merritt.
